 The idea for this product grew out of a delightful activity we participated in during  the 2007 holiday season.  We had just re-decorated our country home, organizing and de-cluttering every single room in the house.  So more photographs were NOT what we needed.  But with four grandchildren, we had a ton of them and didn’t want to throw them away.  So we took on a fun project creating collages from all the photos, grouping  them by “Holidays,” “Vacations,” “Special Events,” “Family Favorites,” and  “individual Remembrances.”   The collages became gifts to the kids and their families, and the ones I made for us still hang in our home, reminding us of the fun times we share together as a family.

Holiday Collage

A train ride with the grandkids and their mothers on the Santa Express was the inspiration for this collage.   Photos from the event, train tickets purchased, event announcement, and cut-outs from old Christmas cards made this collage a favorite.

Memory collages make great gift certificate presents.   Give one as a wedding present, a baby shower gift, or any event in which photographs will play a major role in making memories. 

Gift Certificates Available!  For the Gardener on your list, give them a $25, $35, $50, or $75 gift certificate from Van Dyke Zinnias!  

Gift Certificates  will arrive on fine vanilla paper stock with gold lettering.  A catalog and growing instructions will be sent with each certificate -- all will be wrapped in holiday or themed crinkle floral paper and a sprinkling of confetti!

Birthday Collage

The birthday girl was turning 6.  Little sister and she dressed up like ballerinas for the party with friends and family.  Cards, 6 red roses, presents, the karaoke machine, a Bratz-themed birthday hat , and lots of pictures insured the event would be captured forever!

Kindergarten Halloween Party Collage

It never gets any better than this—kindergarteners dressing up  for their first school costume party.  Moms baked the cupcakes and teacher made the punch.   It was all too chilly outside for the frilly princess dress she wore.   Scrap book stickers; kids turned pirate, black cat, witches, and wolf men  — a camera full of precious photographs preserved  forever!

          Special Events  Collage

Each November, our two grandsons and their mom participate in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit  (NIC-U) fashion show.   Both boys were born at 29 weeks gestation.  Thankfully, both  are strapping, healthy kids today.     The time is fast approaching when they will no longer think it’s  cool to be in this fund-raiser fashion show.   This collage will ensure we never forget and appreciate how they  and their mother struggled to bring them into our world.

ORDERING A COLLAGE

Creating a unique collage takes time and requires some customer interaction in the process.  Here are  our suggested steps:

1. Decide placement of the collage first. 

2. Decide what size framed collage fits best in your selected area

3. Decide what event your collage will commemorate (i.e., wedding/wedding showers, birthday, vacation, dance recital, fashion show, holiday get together, birth of a baby / baby showers, Halloween, Christmas or other holiday celebration, christening, family reunion, special award ceremony, recognition event such as a retirement party or “celebrity roast” of a friend, prom activities, homecoming, political rallies, civic organization conference, graduation, or anything suitable for capturing in a photo such as a collection of woodland and wildlife scenes.)

4. Gather or take the photos you will use for the collage.  

5. Gather other mementos of your event (i.e., a child themed birthday party hat, a special card received for the event, the speech given at the commemorated retirement or wedding banquet, a baby bootie from the infant’s hospital trip home to join the family,  etc.)

6. Send them to SBaller@lobatek.com as a digital file by either scanning or a camera dump.    Be sure the quality is high enough to produce a good photo.

7. OR you may send originals or prints and reduce your costs by 25% off the unit price.   It takes time , ink, and printer paper to create photos from digital formats.   We will return any unused photos to you with your order.

8. Select the frame you want for your photo collage.  The customer buying this locally will insure the glass frame won’t get broken in shipment.    We can also work with 3-D frames or shadow boxes for a different affect and look. 

9. Tell me what color and material make up your selected frame. If you wish, we can select an appropriate frame for you, however it will be an additional cost.

10. We’ll do the rest.  I will select a suitable matting and scrap-booking or other materials to help shape the collage and make it unique per your order.  Once we receive the  photos and payment, we will go to work to meet your deadlines for returning the finished collage back to you.   

11. Hang the child’s birthday party or other celebration collage low enough so the smallest child can see it.  I guarantee they will make a bee-line for it each time they come to visit .
