Indian Blanket / Firewheel (Gaillaardia pulchella (Asteraceae)

Hardy drought tolerant annual with colonies of brilliant red flowers tinged with a yellow edging.  Slightly smaller than its perennial cousin Gaillardia aristata. Some of both are in the mix.  Does well in sandy or well-drained soil with full sun. Grows to a height of 1.5-2 feet tall.  Blooms May-September.  Good for roadside, drainage ditches, slopes, sandy areas, or open fields -- anyplace where you want to establish plants in hard-to-grow areas.   Vase life of 6-10 days, making it an excellent cut flower!   $2.50 for 100+ seeds.
