This old fashioned favorite earns its place in any garden! Appears in late
spring or early summer in
bright blues, deep burgundy, soft pinks, and creamy whites. They even look cheerful, their small
feathery blossoms an inch or more in diameter, their foliage a light sage green with
delicate leaves and straight stems. Plants grow 2-3 feet tall. Grows best sheltered from
winds, where it gets plenty of rain. Seeds are produced in late July, and the finches love
them! So you'd better get them before the birds do! Plant at staggered intervals and have
showy color all summer.
Great for your "blue" theme garden or
with Zinnia bouquets, as Zinnias never bloom blue. $2.50 for 100+ seeds.
Cobalt blue Bachelor Buttons.
Creamy whites and pale pinks were recessive this year. Burgundy and
purple are more rare, but they do occur in the mix less
frequently.
Annual but
readily reseeds and may be planted like perennials
Likes full sun (6
hours) to part shade
Moist soil is
best
